Dr. Ignatius Botha
Dr Ignatius Botha obtained his surgical degree in 1991 and was a consultant at the University of Stellenbosch in the Surgical Department as well as The Gastroenterology Department. His main interest is in laparoscopic surgery and he has done numerous courses in advanced laparoscopic surgery (aka keyhole surgery) and training of fellow surgeons. Gastroenterology forms a main part of his day-to-day practice.
He is a member of several local Surgical Society’s including ASSA, SASES, Critical Care. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
His other main interest lies in the Intensive Care field, surgical infections, antimicrobial prophylaxis and antibiotics. He is actively involved in an Antibiotic Review Group (ARG) with specialists re-evaluating the use of antibiotics in the Intensive Care situation as well as discussions in surgical anti-microbial prophylaxis.
The Antibiotic Review Group was formed more than 10 years ago and is very well established. Meetings include patient presentations, ward rounds and visits by local and international speakers.
Dr Botha has been in private practice since 1992.
He is currently a consultant surgeon at a private clinic in Cape Town.

Dr. GJ De Villiers
Dr. De Villiers is one of the Anesthetists for the practice of Drs Allwright and Partners.
He has collaborated with Dr. Botha for over 10 years. His practice has supported Dr. Botha’s surgery since 1992.
